Kevin Buford MD

Dr. Kevin Buford is dual board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. Dr. Buford completed his undergraduate training and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from The University of California at Los Angeles. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and subsequently completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at The University of California at San Diego. Dr. Buford completed a post-residency fellowship in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. 

He has previously held academic appointments at The University of Pennsylvania and Florida Atlantic University and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine at Louisiana State University (LSU).  

Dr. Buford has a decade of experience working in Level 1 Trauma centers. He serves as the vice chairman of the physicians advisory committee of the Association of Dive Contractors International (ADCI). He teaches for the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) and lectures at the medical assessment for fitness to dive course. Dr. Buford is a flight physician, PADI Divemaster, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Dive Medical Officer, and Divers Alert Network (DAN) referral physician.
