Medical Team

Staten Island Siphon Project NYC
Overview
U.S Hyperbaric Tunnel Medical Division worked with Ballard Marine Construction, providing medical care to all compressed air workers (CAWs) known in their circle as sand hogs, commercial divers, and construction teams. The project supplied five million gallons per day (mgd) of drinking water under normal circumstances, and in emergency conditions, it is expected to supply an average of 50 mgd with a peak flow of 150 mgd. The project took an extended 3 years to complete due to Super Storm Sandy.
Scope of Work
The U.S. Hyperbaric Tunnel Medical Team assured the compressed air workers were in good health and capable of undergoing compressed air work. The team of EMTs, DMTs, hyperbaric nurses, and physicians performed checkout dives with the CAW's pre-dive and post-dive examinations to ensure CAW safety and that they were disease-free after decompression.
Services
24/7 Onsite medical care of all commercial divers and compressed air workers.
Help mitigate the risk of decompression sickness while working with a hyperbaric chamber supervisor.
